There is the music that parents don’t mind their kids listening to, like ska. Ska has always been a fun expressive and non-violent type of music. “Happy circus music” is one name that I’ve heard it being called. It’s the local bands that kids get together in small clubs to hang out and watch. It’s usually a nice and friendly atmosphere. Everyone says hello to the person who’s dancing next to them. It’s a place where you can meet people and not get judged right off the bat. It’s an easy going show that kids can go to and stay out of trouble. Many of the kids there are “sXe – straightedge” That means that the person is against drinking smoking and drugs. That’s why parents approve that that kind of music. It’s happy music that does not alarm them. Hardcore music, the music that parents are scared of. This is the type of music that kids go to small clubs to see, hitting and pushing each other, which they consider dancing, while listening to loud, harsh, abrasive music. It’s the type of music that gets kids hyped up and excited, sometimes angry. And parents are truly scared of this music. Scared of the lyrics and the screaming, and mostly of the effect it will have on the child. True, the shows are filled with energy and sometimes hate, but when it comes down to it, the person listening to it may not be. It’s a show where some people can go and have fun, but most of them do not take the anger to the street. The parents are mostly scared because the music is misunderstood to them. English grammar exercises improve your English knowledge and vocabulary skills Are you a native speaker of English? Then you should read this ! i *in a way* agree! In conclusion I would say that, music is in our minds beginning from our birth until our death. Music is an inseparable part of this world. We cannot live without music being the part of this world of full noise and beat. I think essay on hard work, music is the same to our soul, like the bath to our body. You should avoid grand generalizations (ex. It obvious that music as old as the human being in this world -- is it?) and hyperbolic statements. You should also review how to structure your introduction and conclusion -- you need to briefly outline in the introduction what you're going to say in your paragraphs. There are many grammar and vocabulary problems here. But, is this for TOEFL? If so, you need to review how to structure a TOEFL essay. One of the varieties music is traditional music There is a negative effects that is given by international music. When you have done this, you should hopefully end up with something like this: In considering which kind of music is the most important, international music is certainly useful to society because it can be argued that it helps us to understand and relate to other people, cultures and countries as we all listen to the same songs. This has occurred as globalization means Western music is heard around the world. However, it is critical that this is not at the expense of traditional music. It should be a priority to preserve this since it teaches people about their history, and helps societies remember and retain their national and cultural identity. All of the points listed are asking for your opinion, but most importantly you MUST make it clear which type of music, traditional or international, you think is more important/useful (if indeed you do think one is more important than the other - you may think they are equally important). As you can see, the IELTS music essay answer is 270 words. You need to discuss all these things as they are all within the IELTS music essay question. If you address all of these points then you will be fully answering the question . There is a lot more you could have written about this topic and I could have made the answer longer, but this is to show you that you can address quite a few points in a short space. These kinds of question are usually asking your opinion in some way, and this question is no exception. This is quite complex - the IELTS music essay question is long and вЂmusic’ is quite an abstract topic. Many questions have a clear task. Today there many varieties of music known worldwide, from pop, classical, rock, jazz and R&B, these are just a few examples of different types or "genre" of music that is found anywhere you go at all places. Music genre can be described as a type or form of music. But what makes these types of music different from each other? What makes them different from each other is that genres help categorize and organize the many different types of music. Music genre's role is important in the world music because it gives a type of music a sense of identity, culture and purpose for us to know what types differentiate from one another. Because there are so many styles we must I.D. types or "genres" of music and categorize them so that we can identify which music is which. Music genre can help give music their sense of identity. It will help us know that when we are listening to music, we know what kind of music we're listening to and also what is involved in the music. For example, say a person is listening to jazz music. How can one identify it in the genre of jazz music? The things that are more often than not in jazz music are swing patterns on the drums, unusual time signatures, saxophones and trumpet. With these common traits of jazz music, these will help a person identify that it is jazz music when they hear these things. With genre it categorizes jazz's identity with swing drum beats saxophones and trumpets and in a way it is also categorizing what kind of instruments are in a genre. Another example of identity and categorization is rock music. How can a person identify rock music? Well as most of us know rock music will mostly contain drums, electric guitar and bass and keyboards. Rock music is also typically played harder and faster than most music with distorted guitars and booming drums. This is the kind of identity that rock music has with the instruments, dynamics and tempo involved. These examples show how music genre can give different types of music a sense of identity, and categorize and organize it for people to know how to differentiate between the many styles of music from its identity. Culturally speaking, music genre plays a role in identifying music with culture. With music genre we can identify what music comes from where. With samba and salsa music we can classify it in the genre of Latin Music. So with that we can understand that samba and salsa music comes from the Latin culture because its genre is Latin music. This will then help people understand that this form of music originates in Latin countries and genre plays a role in which it gives music a geographical background. With the genre of classical music when people hear this music, they can pinpoint the era of where it came from. When we hear Mozart or Bach we can hear what the music was like back during those times, and it gives us a sense of what the culture was like. In those times they didn't call it "classical music" it was just their form of music. The same can apply for 50's 60's music with "doo wop or 70's music with disco. When we listen to these types of genres of we can hear how the music was like in any era and gives a sense of culture of how the music was like in those time periods. The 1950's gave birth to the term "rock and roll" which was coined by legendary disc jockey Alan Freed to describe his particular musical taste. Just as the term implies, "Rock 'N Roll" is a type of music. It "shook things up" in the 1950s and 1960s. Many musical styles from around the world contributed to this new sound." (Lamb, 2001) 2 Rock and rolls intentions were to shake things up and it held true to its name while also breaking down race barriers. Although their were numerous rock and roll artists, probably the most recognized individuals include Elvis Presley and Chuck Barry that represented two very different fractions of the rock and roll scene. Elvis Presley was described under the terms of a "rockabilly" artist which drew its roots from from country music, but added a significant edge. Chuck Barry took rock and roll and refined what our understanding of it is today, for he relied heavily on his guitar and instrumentals that are considered to be prominent aspects of rock and roll today. While rock and roll was attributed to groundbreaking new sounds and a foundation for subsequent music to grow off of it, after the mid 1960's rock and roll experienced a fall of popularity. A fter the public showed an increasing interest in the alternative category,m any musicians began singing their way to spotlight. Artists and bands that synchronized their talent and reached success were, "Metallica, Gin Blossoms, Sonic Youth, Ani DiFranco, Alice in Chains, and Oasis were all now being marketed as alternative" 14. These bands co-mingled with the old and the new to mix a beat that held true to the name alternative. With this constant flow from old styles like rock and roll to new styles like Rap/hip-hop, Americans gradually found that alternative was the illumination in between. Then, alternative hit gold! Nirvana came out with their first hit, Nevermind. and alternative awoke. Veritably, " In 1986 on MTV, the United States began airing a late night television program with alternative music videos called 120 minutes" 15. People started seeing and listening. De facto, they liked the sound they heard! This proved that, " The explosion of alternative rock was truly aided by MTV and festivals, such as Lollapalooza" 16. These slight tid-bits of broadcasts and publicity announcements procured alternative to become the strong foundation for many other musicians to come. The most popular bands that trailed after the chorus of Nirvana were some of the best and most commonly known and appreciated bands that alternative rock ever spit out, such as: " Korn, System of a Down. Radiohead, Foo Fighters, and Lincoln Park" 17 Lazarus. Alternative showed a different side to music, a unique liking that glorified the power of passion through lyrics, fame without unnecessary exposure, and truth through the voices of many, very talented musicians. 16.Kindell Leon. the Wyville Times. 2007. Rock and roll, much like other types of music, evokes certain emotions which cause a shifting in moods from individual to individual. Rock and Roll was originally a facet of a myriad of musical genres including folk, jazz, blues, and rockabilly. It was not until the late 1940's and early 1950's that Rock and roll truly gained notariaty in America. Its popularity was much attributed to the form of music having a heavy emphasis on electrically amplified instruments and heavy sounded beats, but also due to the illusions of promiscousity and sex that appealed to a younger generation. Once the younger generations began latching onto the rock and roll genre of music it became apparent to many that the genre of music was not only a style of music, but a lifestyle inwhich became apart of everyday life. Leo D'Anjou points out the reason for the rise of rock and roll, " The rise of rock and roll in the 1950s coincides with the manifestation of youth as a new social category: the teenagers. Music is something that accompanies all of us throughout our lives. As children, we are taught songs by our parents and teachers as a means of learning language, or simply as a form of enjoyment. Children delight in singing with others, and it would appear that the act of singing in a group creates a connection between participants, regardless of their age. Later in life, people’s musical preferences develop, and we come to see our favourite songs as part of our life stories. Music both expresses and arouses emotions in a way that words alone cannot. In short masters thesis in materials engineering, it is difficult to imagine life without it. it is irrefutable that music accompanies us throughout our entire life. There are a variety of music styles nowadays, and the two main musics are the traditional music and international music. Traditional music represents one's own culture identity. In contrast, international music represents the current famous pop music. In my opinion, traditional music should be valued over the international music that has become so popular. International pop music is often catchy and fun, but it is essentially a commercial product that is marketed and sold by business people. Traditional music, by contrast, expresses the culture, customs and history of a country. Traditional styles, such as. (example). connect us to the past and form part of our cultural identity. It would be a real pity if pop music became so predominant that these national styles disappeared. It is true that today, all of us witness various kinds of music styles which are famous and well-known. There are so many reasons why we listen to different kinds of music and I am in favor of view that traditional music is more important than international one. There are several reasons why people listen to music. Firstly, it is sometimes best option to use it as a method of learning language at school. For example, children are still being taught several languages and learn them more easily by singing it as it is becoming appealing to many learners. This also makes learning period more enjoyable and interesting. Secondly, music is an indispensable part of our life, since it helps us soften our negative emotions, cultivate our hearts, and prevent to breed hostility, violence among human beings. Finally, due to fast-pace of life, more stress on workplace and other unwanted problems require from us to take a break in order to recharge our batteries and get away from problems for some time and this could be done, of course, by listening our favorite music. In the first place, music is an essential part of how most of us enjoy our leisure time.It is so engrossing that we forget about our trials and worries of everyday existence. It has the power to elicit deeply personal and specific patterns of thought and emotion in us.Further,we need it to celebrate special occasions.Without music,it would not be the same celebrating at sporting events or embracing landmark moments such as wedding or birthdays. It also has the potential to help us perform better.Exposure to music activates and engages different areas of the brain, and has been shown to enhance memory and other cognitive functions.
